Copper Aqua Flash Flashing. CSI 3-Part Specifications.

COPPER AQUA FLASH  Flashing

DESCRIPTION
A 40 or 50 air. composite flexible flashing consisting of either a 2 or 3 ounce solid sheet of annealed copper which is laminated on one side with polyester film and bonded on the other with a highly adhesive SBS modified bitumen (rubberized asphalt) with a removable silicone liner. By completely encapsulating the copper in the polyester film on one side and rubberized asphalt on the other, the copper is protected from any alkalis or acid attack. The already applied rubberized asphalt eliminates any possiblity of an area of non-adhesion if the material is pressed firmly into place, making installation effective and efficient. Copper Aqua Flash membrane can be applied as part of a system which uses. both Aqua Flah primer and mastic. Copper Aqua Flash may be applied to masonry, concrete, steel, wood and gypsum

Features and Benefits: A composite flashing which is:
 Self-Adhering
 Self-Sealing
 Excellent Puncture & Abrasion Resistance
Self-healing if damaged slightly during installation since adhesive system will elongate and recover
 Temperature stability up to 220°F
No reglet needed when adhering membrane to vertical substrate*

MODEL SPECIFICATIONS:
Special Requirements:
AlI material specified shall be delivered to the jobsite in approved manufacturer's sealed containers bearing manufaturer's name and material identification.

Preparation: All masonry and other surfaces receiving flashings should be reasonably smooth, free from loose material and completely dry. There shall be no slopes which would prevent the free flow of water to the exterior surface of the wall. All work shall be executed in conformance with accepted trade practices.

Materials: Flashings shall be Copper Aqua Flash Flashing consisting of 2, 3 or 5 ounce annealed copper sheet bonded to rubberized asphalt for a total thickness of 40 mils, 50 mils respectively.

Applications:
 Thru-Wall Flashing
 Concealed Flashing
 Foundation Sill Flashing
 Base Flashing
 Spandrel Flashing
 Head and Sill Flashing
 Parapet Flashing

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Copper Aqua Flash
Copper Aqua Flash
should be cut into manageable lengths of approximately 8 to 10 feet using a pair of scissors or a sharp knife. Remove the release liner, making sure the adhesive does not come in contact with either itself or any foreign matter (i.e. dirt, etc.)

Apply
Copper Aqua Flash membrane starting from the lowest point and work upwards. Once the membrane is in place, use a steel hand roller to secure the flashing firmly in place. Pressure is essential to eliminate any trapped air bubbles or wrinkles. All overlaps should be a minimum of 4 inches. Either trim edges or lay the Copper Aqua Flash membrane 1/2" back from face of masonry

Inside and outside corners must be covered with two layers of membrane and sealed with mastic.

Once installed, no maintenance is required.

Note: Not to be applied below 25°F
Not to be applied below 30°F without a primer
Not to be applied to moist or damp surfaces
Not to be used with oil based, wax or polysulfide sealants or creosote.
Not to be applied to areas where it will be exposed to excessive sunlight or heat for extended periods.

Storage: Temperature not to exceed 120° Fahrenheit or go below 25° Fahrenheit. In cold temperatures membrane is to be stored in an area where the temperature is above 50°F

Protect products from inclement weather or excessive heat.

Sizes: Standard Widths: 12", 16", 18", 24", 36"

Standard Length: 50 lineal feet

AQUA/FLASH MASTIC:
A rubberized asphalt based adhesive to be used in conjunction with the Copper Aqua Flash membrane to seal all horizontal terminations, seams, laps, protrusions and any accidental cuts or punctures. Temperature application is to be 25° F or above.

No solvent based mastics are to be used without the approval of the manufacturer.,

AQUA/FLASH EMULSION PRIMER:

A solvent free, odorless primer specifically formulated to be used in conjunction with
Copper Aqua Flash membrane to provide good initial adhesion and excellent permanent adhesion.

Uses:
AQUA FLASH Emulsion Primer
is used to prime all surfaces where COPPER AQUA FLASH membrane is applied such as concrete, masonry and wood. The AQUA FLASH Emulsion Primer is to be used in ambient and substrate temperatures above 40°F (4°C). This primer can be applied to damp surfaces including green concrete.

Application:
Either spray, roll or brush apply AQUA FLASH Emulsion Primer at a rate of 250300 square feet per gallon onto a clean, dry, dust and dirt free surface. Spread primer evenly, avoiding puddles. Allow primer to dry for 4 hours. On warm days drying may occur more rapidly. Any areas which are primed should be covered with COPPER AQUA FLASH membrane within 24 hours or re-primed following the same procedure.

Storage: AQUA FLASH Emulsion Primer may deteriorate upon freezing. Store in protected area. Do not apply below 40'F WC) or when rain is imminent.

AQUA/FLASH 500 PRIMER:
A one component solvent-base, high tack primer specifically designed to promote maximum adhesion of the Copper Aqua Flash membrane waterproofing on all vertical and horizontal surfaces when the substrate is either not dirt free or when membrane will not adhere properly

Application:
Apply by spray, brush or long nap roller to all surfaces in an even coat at 250-300 square feet per gallon. At 75°F, allow primer to dry one hour minimum, 8 hours maximum. Primer has satisfactory cure when surface is tacky, but does not transfer when touched. If the COPPER AQUA FLASH membrane is not applied within the maximum dry time, re-prime.

Do not apply below 25°F.

Packaging:
AQUA FLASH 500 solvent-base, high tack primer is packaged in 5 gallon pails.

Caution:
Use with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing of vapors. In closed areas, workmen should wear approved breathing apparatus, protective clothing and eye protection. Avoid ingestion. See MSDS sheets for further information.
