Chipola Center for the Arts: Lightweight marble cladding for a performance center

The Chipola Center for the Arts at Chipola College in Marianna, Florida is a $16 million project that began construction in July of 2010. The facility, with 56,000 square feet of space, is a work of art itself. State-ofthe-art equipment and an incredible, unique theatre design make the Chipola Center for the Arts one of a kind. The theatre has been a dream of Chipola’s Fine and Performing Arts Department for many years and a lot of thought and time was put into its design and construction.

When looking for marble cladding for the main theatre’s entrance, DAG Architecture turned to StonePly. There are many advantages when choosing StonePly:

  • The marble faced panels are beautiful and high quality.
  • The lightweight of the panels adds very little weight to the façade.
  • Installation of StonePly panels is much quicker and easier than that of regular stone slabs.
  • The super strong panels are durable.
QUALITY AND BEAUTY
The Center for the Arts used only the highest quality sound and theatre equipment and the building was constructed with the best available supplies. Only high quality, attractive products were sought out and used for the creation of the building. StonePly provided the Chipola Center for the Arts with the beautiful marble cladding that surrounds the entrance to the main theatre. The gorgeous design for the entrance is a perfect balance of traditional architecture with a modern feel. The Carrera marble wall panels easily flow with the design and add splendor and class to the appearance.

LIGHTWEIGHT
StonePly panels are a fraction of the weight of solid stone. We cut our stone down to ¼ inch thick and attach it to a very lightweight honeycomb backing. The light weight of the product allows for the panels to be installed virtually anywhere.

SIMPLE INSTALLATION
The installation of the panels at the Center for the Arts was swift and simple. With StonePly panels there was no drilling or epoxy required. The aluminum honeycomb backed panels were attached using Z clips. The installers simply screwed the Z clips onto the panels as needed. This allowed the installation to be smooth and painless.
