Building on their reputation as a leader in the production of concrete construction products, County Materials Corporation announced it has acquired the Indiana-based manufacturing assets and real estate of the Sanders Companies effective August 6, 2018. The acquisition includes Sanders Companies’ precast manufacturing facility in Whitestown, IN.
The acquisition of Sanders Companies, an established and successful company since the 1970s, adds to County Materials’ manufacturing capabilities in structural precast products, including box culverts and three-sided bridge structures. Additionally, by acquiring Sanders Companies, County Materials adds insulated sandwich walls to their product line. Insulated sandwich walls are a structural, load-bearing, insulated precast building envelope system that is used predominantly in commercial and industrial buildings.
The acquisition of the Sanders Companies positions County Materials for long-term growth and market leadership in precast products throughout the Midwest.
“The convergence of our established and highly successful manufacturing companies is truly a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our organization,” says Tim Sonnentag, President of County Materials. “County Materials and the Sanders Companies have much in common, as we have both grown our businesses through the years based on hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our valued customers and talented employees.”
County Materials’ products are utilized in infrastructure, transportation construction, commercial, agricultural, municipal and residential building and landscaping projects of all sizes. The company is a large manufacturer of reinforced concrete pipe and precast products. Other regional product divisions include ready mix and aggregates, hollowcore, prestress bridge girders, and numerous masonry and landscape lines.
Since it was founded in 1946, County Materials has grown to become a diverse and progressive organization. That includes more than 40 locations in six states, a team of nearly 1,500 dedicated employees, and the third generation of family leadership. In 2017, the company was awarded the “Bridging the Skills Gap” specifically to note the company’s, “strong support of industry education, donations to youth facilities, and its robust youth mentoring activities.”
