LSGC realizes lighting for Club Devo

Lighting Science Group (LSG), a global developer and integrator of intelligent and efficient light-emitting diode (LED) solutions, announced today that it has installed several integrated LED systems to create an interactive, dynamic lighting experience for the newly opened Club Devo in Goes, Netherlands. Using close to 100 percent LED technology for its lighting needs, Club Devo is the first nightclub in Europe believed to implement LED lighting systems on such a large scale.

To achieve a vibrant sensory experience, LSG installed its waterproof X16 Dotz product to the bar facade, textured wall panels and a curved video screen. The Dotz product, which is comprised of individually addressable RGB LEDs, produce a wide color pallette of millions of hues, which makes the product optimal for video applications. The X16 Dotz product was also installed inside the nightclub's translucent cube tables and stools, which glow and change color in sequence with the other lighting features. The experience is heightened by animation capabilities which display video on several walls, the dance floor and the bar front illumination.

LSG's Eyeleds product range, which features a low build-in depth and programmable technology for dynamic effects, were installed in the dance floor itself. The Eyeleds lighting system is durable enough to withstand the pressure of customers on the surface and thin enough to enable easy installation into the floor material. The Eyeleds product was also used as accent lighting in niches and on the stairway. Downstairs, the chill-out cellar featuring the building's old brick arches are washed in dramatic color by the clean, sophisticated lines of the RGB Flood lighting from LSG's Linear product line. The flood lights in the chill-out cellar respond to a simple wall controller that stores the moods and light sequences that can be recalled and played at the press of a button.

"We chose LEDs for our lighting needs because of the technology's architectural and entertainment aspects, as well as the incredible, sophisticated light quality," said Justin Clarijs and Oscar Meijerink, managers of Club Devo. "Lighting Science was an integral part of our decision, as they provided us with a fully customized lighting solution that is essential for the customer experience."

The lighting effects in the main room are achieved with LSG's proprietary Stream protocol connected with several integrated LED systems and controlled by a single PC. In addition, the network connects to the music system, allowing the DJ to interact with the lighting experience.
"In order to achieve the ambiance and stunning effects that Club Devo wanted, we worked with the club owners to provide a turn-key solution, including the manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and service." said Pete Earle, Business Development EMEA, of Lighting Science.

"Lighting Science is in a unique position to offer and integrate both dynamic, colored lighting solutions to white light products for general illumination. We were able to incorporate our broad offering of solutions to create a fully realized experience for Club Devo," added Richard van de Vrie, Global Business Group Executive, Eyeleds of Lighting Science.
