National Gypsum Company, a leading supplier of gypsum wallboard, interior finishing products and cement board, named its Rensselaer, IN, facility as its IFP Plant of the Year for 2014. The plant makes joint treatment products used in finishing wallboard. The plant also received the company’s Chairman’s Award for Safety. It had no recordable accidents and an excellent overall quality performance.
The plant employs 42 associates, who also introduced two new raw materials for a significant cost reduction and installed a new robotic system last year. The plant produces the full range of National Gypsum’s finishing products but is best known for its production of the company’s popular ProForm Lite-Blue Joint Compound which is 30 percent lighter than conventional ready mix.
Plant Manager Shane Whaley accepted the award for associates at ceremonies earlier this month.
