National Gypsum provides products and product disclosure documents that help architects design sustainable buildings
Sustainability in the construction industry is a driving force in building design product selection. The push for sustainability in modern construction is being driven by several factors, including customer demand for environmentally friendly solutions, reducing energy costs and .
Not surprisingly, found that 47% of executives in the engineering and construction industries view sustainability as top-of-mind or a major concern in seeking to lower energy consumption.
“There is a growing demand in the marketplace, both by architects and owners, to better understand the building materials they are specifying and purchasing — and to evaluate the environmental and health impacts of the selected materials,” said Amy Hockett, national marketing manager - architectural services & sustainability for National Gypsum Company. “By providing the documents required for credit compliance in various green building rating systems, we can help your project achieve sustainable building certifications.”
To help realize the sustainability goals for your construction projects, National Gypsum Company provides for products manufactured by its affiliate companies: Gold Bond Building Products, LLC; ProForm Finishing Products, LLC; and PermaBASE Building Products, LLC.
Available sustainability documents and tools include:
Architects and specifiers can use these product disclosure documents and third-party-tested certifications to evaluate building materials and select low-impact, materially healthy products.
“These disclosure documents support project teams that are designing and constructing sustainable buildings,” noted Hockett. “Specifically, HPDs, EPDs and UL GREENGUARD product certifications are approved for credit compliance in LEED v4, Living Building Challenge, WELL and other green building rating systems.”
In addition to housing all of the sustainability and disclosure documentation detailed below, National Gypsum’s provides quick links to other important documents and useful resources, such as product literature, technical guides and continuing education courses. These resources are part of National Gypsum’s providing industry-leading technical support and customer service.

Health Product Declarations
A is a standardized report used to disclose the contents of building materials, as well as their possible human health effects and hazards. These reports are valid for three years and are approved documents for credit compliance in many green building rating systems, including LEED v4, WELL and Living Building Challenge.
Health Product Declarations are available for the following products:
Environmental Product Declarations
An is a transparent, objective report that communicates what a product is made of, how it is made and how it impacts the environment across its entire lifecycle. These reports, which are valid for five years, detail a product’s environmental impacts, such as global warming potential, smog creation, ozone depletion and water pollution.
“EPDs are an important validation tool, both for a manufacturer to provide transparent data about the environmental sustainability of its products and for specifiers to make informed purchasing decisions,” said Hockett. “EPDs are approved documents for credit compliance in many green building rating systems, including LEED v4.”
Environmental Product Declarations are available for the following products:
UL GREENGUARD Certification
Drywall and other products that achieve UL GREENGUARD certification are verified for low chemical emissions and help demonstrate both compliance with key chemical emission standards (e.g., California Section 01350) and a manufacturer’s commitment to healthier indoor environments. These certifications are valid for one year, as each product group must be tested annually to verify its qualifications for certification.
Find UL GREENGUARD certification documents for the following product lines:
Declare Labels
are product transparency disclosures that identify where a product comes from, what it’s made of and where it goes at the end of its life. Declare labels disclose all intentionally added ingredients and residuals at or above 100 ppm (0.01%) present in the final product by weight. Each ingredient must be reported with a chemical name, a Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number and a percentage/percentage range.
Declare labels are available for the following products:
Green Product Score Report
A provides specific product information based on a project’s location.
“The Green Product Score is a proprietary tool created by National Gypsum. It includes products manufactured by Gold Bond, ProForm and PermaBASE,” said Hockett. “The report is used to verify regionality and recycled content by product for credit compliance in the LEED rating system and to quickly identify which product disclosure documents are available per product.”
The report includes product manufacturing location, raw material extraction locations and available recycled content, low emitting certifications, mold validations, material ingredient disclosures (HPDs or Declare labels) and EPDs.
