How it Works: Solaris® Cool Roof for Solar Reflectivity
May 5, 2023
We’re always looking to the future to meet customer demands. As more consumers request sustainable materials, we are ready with multiple options. By designing ahead of the curve we’re able to offer an extensive line of sustainable products that are effective and stylish.
One of the top sustainable products from our Landmark® series is the . Let’s learn more about these shingles and the forward-thinking technology used to develop them.
A Shingle That Reflects Heat
Throughout the day, the sun beats down on your home. Any heat that is absorbed through your roof will warm your house and make you feel uncomfortable. This heat will drive up your air conditioning use, increasing your monthly energy bills. Not only are the sun’s rays costly, but they are also destructive. UV rays degrade building materials and weaken your roof’s ability to protect your home.
At CertainTeed, we’ve developed , which reflects heat rather than absorbing it. Shingles with this technology can reflect more than 40 percent of the sun’s rays, keeping your home cool. By protecting your home from the heat, you will enjoy cooler temperatures and decrease your air conditioning use.
Our Materials Meet Code Requirements
Not only did our team build Solaris Cool Roof shingles with customers in mind, but they also developed them to meet some of the strictest building codes in the United States. Solaris Cool Roof shingles are designed to comply with California Title 24, Part 6, Cool Roof requirements (per the ), which is widely considered as the industry benchmark for cool roof performance.
Select colors can also be used to comply with LA county 31 standards such as Aged Cedar, Birchwood, Burnt Sienna, Crystal Gray, Georgetown Gray, Graphite, Heather Blend, Mist White, Moiré Black, Mojave Tan, Resawn Shake, Silver Birch, Weathered Wood.
Our Solaris Cool Roof shingles can be used by builders who want to qualify for LEED certification, federal tax credits, and other green building programs.
By staying on top of code requirements, we help builders and homeowners proactively choose green materials that last.
Don’t Sacrifice Your Designs
You shouldn’t have to sacrifice fashion because of function. Our Solaris Cool Roof shingles come in multiple styles and colors, including darker colors, so you can invest in cool roof technology without giving up the aesthetic you want for your home.
Our team is happy to work with you to determine the best shingle option based on your building goals and designs.
